A powerful toy ! |
The new server will use latest CPUs such as low-power
Celeron/Pentium III above
600 MHz. This will be quite faster than the poor old 486
and will match more projects' needs.
The mothearboard comes with an on-board FastEthernet
chip. This is more than enough for small and medium
services (DNS, NTP, SNMP, POP, SMTP, and sometimes
HTTP).
If some service needs more network bandwidth (HTTP, FTP,
web stressing), we will simply connect a
PCI riser slot
and add a new network card, such as a 4-ports
or a GigaEthernet adapter.
Example: a SUN Quad FastEthernet (QFE) card
